However, the EMPLOYEE maybe suspended without pay during the time <br />between the notice of discharge and the expiration of the pre -termination meeting. <br />Any further appeal of the discharge may be initiated by the UNION at Step 2 of the <br />GRIEVANCE procedure provided that the written appeal is signed by the <br />EMPLOYEE and the UNION. . It is agreed that the availability of this appeal <br />procedure satisfies all due process requirements for a pre4elmiflatiOfl hearing. <br />19.6 EMPLOYEES may examine their own personnel file at reasonable times under the <br />direct supervision of a representative of the EMPLOYER. <br />19.7 The EMPLOYER shall have the right to revoke or reduce a discharge penalty at <br />any time. <br />ARTICLE 20 <br />WAGES <br />20.1 EMPLOYEES shall be compensated in accordance with the wage schedules and <br />text attached hereto as Appendix A. Appendix A reflects a two and three-quarter <br />percent (2.75%) cost of living adjustment (COLA) over 2020 wages, effective <br />January 1,2021. <br />20.2 Public Works Maintenance Workers or Building Inspectors expressly assigned in <br />writing by the supervisor of department director to perform the duties of an. interim <br />Lead worker due to the absence of a supervisor shall receive an interim lead worker <br />differential of one. dollar ($1.00) per hour. Interim Lead pay will be paid for all <br />hours assigned and worked in the interim lead worker capacity. Interim lead <br />workers will not be assigned for project -based work. The department head may or <br />may not assign an interim lead at his/her sole discretion. <br />ARTICLE 21 I UNIFORMS <br />The EMPLOYER shall furnish uniforms and cleaning of such uniforms for <br />EMPLOYEES in the Public Works Department, this includes Building <br />Maintenance Workers. <br />21.2 Public Works Maintenance employees and Engineering Tcohnicians may choose to <br />opt out of the contract unifortn service by January 15 of each year. Contract <br />uniform services will be cancelled by February 1 of each year for employees who <br />opt out. <br />All uniform items provided by the EMPLOYER shall remain the property of the <br />EMPLOYER and as each item is either discarded or replaced, the discarded or <br />replaced items shall be returned to the EMPLOYER. In the event any such items <br />are lost or damaged th.rough the negligence of the EMPLOYEE possessing said <br />property, (reasonable wear and depreciation expected), such EMPLOYEE shall be <br />financially responsible for the replacement of said negligently lost or destroyed <br />21.1 <br />21.3 <br />item <br />21.4 The EMPLOYER shall designate the standard uniform required while on duty. <br />
