AWARD BIDS FOR T.H. #47 PEDESTRIAN UNDERPASS By: Leonard Linton, Civil Engineer Background: Thc city council authorized the solicitation of bids for T.H. #47 Pedestrian Underpass June 28, 2005. Bids will be opened on July 26, 2005. The preliminary results of the bidding will be summarized and distributed before the meeting. This project was fast tracked through the approval and design process to take advantage of the closure ofT.H. # 47 by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MN/DOT) for maintenance. The construction is anticipated to be completed by Labor Day. Two Resolutions are attached to the case. The first resolution is to award the bids based on the bid tabulation that will be distributed tonight. The second resolution authorizes signing of the limited use permit for a non-motorized recreational trail from MN/DOT. Staff has forwarded the agreement to the City Attorney for review. Funding Sources: Thc estimated cost of this project is $390,000 and includes engineering, design and a 5% construction contingency. The costs associated with this project are anticipated to be financed by a combination of park and trail dedication money from Marigold Ponds (~$270,000) and the Park Fund ($120,000). There are sufficient funds in the Park District to pay for this improvement. Recommendation: Staff' recommends awarding the contract for T.H. #47 Pedestrian Underpass to for the amount of $ Staff also recommends execution of the agreement for the non-motorized recreational trail between the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the City of Ramsey.
