A new <br />door equipped with a panic bar will allow locking and also exiting without manual unlocking. <br />'l'he cost o£ this additional work including installation is $8,119 if done in conjunction with the <br />rest of the repairs. He advised staff recommends funding for the repairs to be taken from the <br />City's insurance fund and the replacement of the main door to be taken from the equipment <br />replacement fund, and to enter into a contract with S & P Construction of St. Paul, Inc. in the <br />amount of $37,877. <br /> <br />Councihnember Elvig questioned if a peddle handle could be installed, as opposed to an entire <br />assembly, so the entire door jamb does not need to be replaced. <br /> <br />[~ublic Works Director Kapler replied staff has been informed this cannot be done. Research was <br />conducted by Maintenance staff and BKV to determine if a retrofit could be done. <br /> <br />Councihnember Elvig asked if there is an updated or more thermal door that the current door <br />could bc replaced with. <br /> <br />t'ublic Works Director Kapler replied the existing door is energy efficient; however, research <br />could be done on this. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to recommend that the <br />City Council adopt the resolution to authorize contract with S & P Construction of St. Paul, Inc. <br />fin' Repairs to Fire Station No. 1. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting <br />No: None. <br /> <br />Case #2: Discussion and Direction for Consulting Services <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman explained the City has a number of consulting service contracts that <br />are eithcr in need of additional funding, or possible additional consulting services that the City <br />docs not currently use, but have recently discussed for consideration. He reviewed the following <br />consulting service contracts: <br /> <br />· (;off & Howard: The City has used Goff & Howard for public relation services, <br /> however, City Council has given direction to use them more frequently, and their services <br /> require more funding than was originally authorized. The funding was originally <br /> approved for $15,000, which has almost been spent to date. <br />· The Tinklenberg Group: The City has been using The Tinklenberg Group for over two <br /> years under time specific extensions. The Tinklenberg Group is requesting an on-going <br /> retainer relationship with the City.
