Thc Council discussed the Sister City Task Force and possible members to serve on the Task <br />Force. Representatives of the following businesses and industries were suggested to serve on the <br />Task Force: Anoka Hennepin Technical College; the printing industry; Life Fitness; the medical <br />device industry; the steel industry; the Anoka County Economic Development Group; the <br />woodworking industry; VisionEase; and Steve Schmidt of Anoka, who has a patent on a catheter <br />device. <br /> <br />Councilmember Olson suggested Vern Haegg or Lili Pan be asked for advise on areas of <br />expertise to bring on board with the Task Force. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tern Elvig suggested Economic Development/TIF Specialist Sullivan provide a <br />recommendation on local businesses to involve in the Task Force. <br /> <br />Managcment Intern Schmidt informed the Council that Governor Pawlenty is planning a large <br />trade delegation trip to China. <br /> <br />4) Public Data Policies <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson indicated staff has been discussing the possibility of <br />updating public data policies. She reviewed the current public data policy with the Council. <br />She indicated the management team and staff have been reminded that everything put into email <br />could be considered a public document. She advised there is very little information the Council <br />deals with that is not public data. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated there is a guideline through the state that outlines what can and <br />cannot legally be done with public services. <br /> <br />5) Future Redevelopment Projects <br /> <br />Moved up in the agenda to precede Case No. 1. <br /> <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson informed the Council that authorization to go out for <br />bid on the Lions Park Building will be on the August 9th Council agenda. She stated staff <br />has met with the architects and it will be an awesome building. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tern Elvig directed staff to invite the Park Board to the August 9th Council <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tern Elvig stated he hosted a gathering last night with his neighborhood <br />regarding the large concern of oak wilt.
