Councihnember Pearson stated it would be unique if the building were utilized in Town Center <br />for something of value to the City. He suggested they may be able to do something to generate <br />funds in the new location. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tern Elvig suggested staff draft a case outlining the public purpose of the building <br />relocation with the potential uses and sites. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson noted included in the Council's packet is information <br />regarding converting the private frontage road behind Old Town Hall to a public roadway. The <br />total project cost is estimated at $56,300. <br /> <br />Thc Council discussed the possibility of Landmark Bank expanding on their current site after the <br />Old '['own Hall is relocated. <br /> <br />Councilmember Olson suggested a statement be made about the history associated with the Old <br />Town Ilall, and that it be brought into focus with Town Center. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tern Elvig concurred. He suggested proactive discussions be held with the Historical <br />Society regarding the historical status of the Old Town Hall. The discussions should include that <br />the building cannot be preserved well on the current site for any type of public purpose, that the <br />relocation will be very minimal, and that the Council does not want to lose the value of the <br />building to the community. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tern Elvig directed staff to inform Landmark Bank that the consensus of the Council <br />.seems to be to relocate the Old Town Hall and retain it for City use, and that there may be an <br />opportunity for the bank to expand on their current site. <br /> <br />2) Revamp Newlsetter <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson indicated staff has been working with representatives of <br />Golf & ltoward regarding the revamping of the Ramsey Resident. A work session was held with <br />staff that contributes to the newsletter on a regular basis. There was discussion about changes <br />being made to the format and structure of the newsletter. Goff & Howard has suggested articles <br />in the newsletter be more brief and provided staff with writing tips. She distributed examples of <br />newsletters fi'om other cities as options for revamping the Ramsey Resident and indicated she is <br />interestcd in utilizing a tabloid format. She advised there will be a survey included in the next <br />Ramsey Resident to determine what the residents would like to see. <br /> <br />3) Sister City Program <br /> <br />Managcment Intern Schmidt indicated he has been compiling information on sister city <br />relationships. Sister city relationships often include the following aspects: idea exchanging, <br />trading with different markets, obtaining cultural information about diverse cultures and bringing <br />it back to the community, and exchanging educational information.
