CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: 08/24/2021 <br />By: Katie Schmidt, Administrative Services <br />Information <br />Title: <br />Adopt Resolution #21-251 to Hire a Public Works Parks Worker Backfilling a Vacant Position <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to authorize filling the vacant full-time Parks Maintenance Worker position. <br />5.20. <br />In July, one Parks Maintenance Worker resigned, which created a vacancy in the Parks Division. The Parks <br />Maintenance Worker position responsibilities include all aspects of parks maintenance, construction of new <br />facilities and the operation of equipment while working in a variety of weather conditions. This position will also be <br />involved in snow plowing of public streets, trails and walks, as well as a wide range of other tasks as required. <br />In addition, the Parks Maintenance Worker is required be a member of the Public Works on -call team and work a <br />rotating on -call schedule 8 weeks per year. This requires employees to be available to respond during evenings, <br />weekends and holidays. <br />Staff conducted a recruitment process which included first interviews. Mr. Daniel Lowrie was selected as the top <br />candidate. Mr. Lowrie successfully completed the City's background checks and pre -employment testing process. <br />The City extended a contingent job offer pending City Council approval.
