3) Consider Ending Probationary Period for the Utilities Lead Person <br /> <br />(~otmcilmcmber Cook stated on January 12, 2005, John Nelson was hired as the City's Utilities <br />l~cad t'crson. Mr. Nelson has successfully completed his six-month probationary period as the <br />IJtilitics [,cad Person and the Public Works Director recommends retaining Mr. Nelson as the <br />City's [Jtilities Lead Person. He explained the Utilities Lead position was separated from the <br />Park and P, ecreation Department, and there will also be changes coming forward in the Park and <br />Recreation Staff in the future. <br /> <br />4) Consider Ending Probationary Period for Utilities Maintenance Worker <br /> <br />(2ouncillncmber Cook explained Mr. Jerry Dube has successfully completed his six-month <br />probationary period as a Utilities Maintenance Worker and the Public Works Director <br />recommends retaining Mr. Dube as a Utilities Maintenance Worker. <br /> <br />5) Consider Ending Probationary Period for Public Works Mechanic <br /> <br />Councihncmber Cook stated Nick Maras has successfully completed his six-month probationary <br />period as the Public Works Mechanic and the Public Works Director recommends retaining Mr. <br />Maras as the City's Public Works Mechanic. <br /> <br />6) Authorization to Request Proposals for an Organizational Study <br /> <br />Councihncmbcr Cook stated at the June 28, 2005 Finance Committee meeting, staff was asked to <br />provide information regarding cost and funding sources for an organizational study. It was <br />determined by the Personnel Committee and staff to authorize for bids and determine what the <br />scope o1' the projects would be. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson explained staff will define the scope of the project and will <br />ask thc bidders to respond to that scope. Within that, staff could remove things from the scope if <br />there is a need to net down the cost. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Finance Committee for Case Nos. 1 and 3 through 6, and adopt <br />Resolution #05-07-217 to grant authorization to hire six Fire Fighters at an hourly wage of <br />$12.50 to begin employment on or after July 20, 2005. The names of the selected candidates will <br />be presented for ratification at the Personnel Committee meeting the evening of July 26, 2005. <br />These appointments will be contingent upon successful completion of criminal and driver's <br />license background checks, reference checks, and passing a pre-employment physical and drug <br />screen; to authorize hiring from an existing eligibility list should Fire Fighter positions become <br />vacant in the next 12 months; to adopt Resolution #05-07-218 ending the probationary period for <br />Mr. Nelson and granting status as a full-time regular Utilities Lead Person; to adopt Resolution <br />#0%07-219 ending the probationary period for Mr. Dube and granting status as a full-time <br />regular Utilities Maintenance Worker; to adopt Resolution #05-07-220 ending the probationary <br />period fi~r Mr. Maras and granting status as a full-time regular Public Works Mechanic; and to <br /> <br />City Council / July 12, 2005 <br /> Page 21 of 25 <br /> <br /> <br />
