Assistant City Administrator Nelson replied the City
sends out an employment letter that outlines the terms of employment and welcomes the
individual to the City. The chevrons had a minimal impact of about 3 miles per
hour on thc speeds, but are not controlling the cars that are turning short or keeping people off of
thc homeowner's property. The Committee did not like the idea of adjusting the road and
softening the curb, as this would likely increase the speeds on the road.

Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to ratify the
recommendation of the Public Works Committee in Case No. 1 and to authorize building curb on
both the inside and outside curve at the comer of 169th Avenue and Neon Street. The chevrons
should remain in place and this case should be brought back to the Public Works Committee in
three months for review and discussion of removing the chevrons.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Cook, Jeffrey, and
Pearson. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmembers Olson and Strommen.

2) Consider Storm Sewer and Utility Improvement Projects

Assistant Public Works Director Olson explained a review of this winter's conditions and
complaints has identified two candidate storm water projects for consideration this construction
season. The tirst project would be a drainage improvement at the intersection of Alpine Drive
and Waco Street. The estimated cost of the project is approximately $14,000, which would
include the complete replacement of 100 feet of badly deteriorated pavement on Waco Street just
south ol'this intersection.

Assistant Public Works Director Olson advised the second project is a resuk of a complaint by
Mrs. Barb Beabeau who resides at 6376 143~d Lane. A small drainage area northeast of Mrs.
Bcabeau's property drains into a rural ditch section adjacent to 143rd Lane. It is proposed that
the storm water bc redirected westward along 143rd Lane to Sunfish Lake Boulevard and then
southward for a distance of approximately 230 feet to an existing storm sewer that discharges
westward across Sunfish Lake Boulevard into a lot presently owned by the City.
