Standing will not be allowed in the trucks, and it will be the responsibility of the person in
the Captain's Seat to keep everyone down.

NEW FIREFIGHTER CANDIDATES

ChicfKapler announced the following:

· Sunday, March 22, 1998, the agility test will be given to five candidates.

Four new members will be added on April 1, 1998. This will help us gear up for Fire Station
#2.

COMMITTEES

Chief Kapler reported on the following:

· Land deed for Station//2 has gone to the State Attorney General's Office and is now in
Hoffinan's hands to get it approved for public use, rather than park use.

· Three groups of architects are bidding for their services in planning the new building.

· A demo truck from LaVeme was demonstrated last Friday. The wheels are in back, which
makes it turn differently. It was a "Chevrolet of trucks, no fancy stuff'. LaVerne is writing a
quote. The truck from Iowa was not available at present, because of the storm in that area.

MUTUAL AID BETWEEN FIRE DEPARTMENTS

· Chief Kapler explained that the DNR is gearing up for an "explosive" spring because of the
lack of snow cover. He read a letter received from the DNR outlining their plans and level
of service for grass fire aid.

· Chief Kapler pointed out that the department needs to have a plan ready for when it is
necessary to call in other departments.

· It was stated that at no time will both grass rigs leave the City.

RADIO CHANNELS

The following instructions were given relating to radio use:

· Keep channel 6 clear, do not scan other channels.

· Use the privacy code "Are you clear" for confidential cOnversations.

FIRE DEPARTMENT/MARCH 11, 1998
