MINIMUM TRAINING LEVELS

A vote was taken and effective the first of the year minimum training will be 50% attendance
of quarterly drills, which would equal 5 drills a quarter. This will insure that OSHA
mandated training drills will be attended. Mandated training takes 32-36 hours of the 44
hours of training.

· If minimum training is not met, the fire fighter will go on up to three months probation, with
no excused absences allowed.

COMMITTEES

Chief Kapler reported on Station #2. There are three pieces of property he will get appraisals
for consideration to purchase.

Tom Hoxter reported on Engine #3.
the land purchase before continuing.
arrival October 1999.

He has a rough draft of the specs done, but is waiting on
Hopefully, by November an engine can be ordered for

SENIOR HOUSING UPDATE

At County Road #5 and Highway #47 there will be a three story, fifty unit senior apartment
complex. The peak of the roof exceeds the height of our current equipment, however, there
will be sprinklers and draft stops installed. When a confirmed call comes in at this location
Anoka or Andover should be called for mutual aide with their aerial equipment. Chief
Kapler will notify 2800 of this also.

A side note to this is that the Comfort Suites will be opening soon and some of the same
concerns are an issue at this location. Chief Kapler stated the hotel has an excellent fire
suppression system in place.

FIRE PREVENTION WEEK

There will be an article in the next Ramsey Resident regarding Fire Prevention Week and the
opportunity for the Department to go to area daycares.

Principal Stan Piechel is excited about the Department doing a program.

· Any donated time during this week would be much appreciated.

· Ramsey Women of Today will be making a donation from a bake sale they are having.

Bob Simpson obtained fifteen videos from Allstate Insurance that the Department will
distribute to the daycares in preparation for the fire fighters arrival.

FIRE DEPARTMENT/SEPTEMBER 9, 1998
