PC# [ <br /> <br />AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE A PARKS LEAD WORKER <br /> <br />By: Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />In l)ecember 2004 the City Council created a Utilities Division within the Public Works <br />Department. As a result of this reorganization, Parks Lead Worker, Mr. John Nelson, <br />was appointed to the Utilities Lead Worker position. On August 9, 2005 staff was given <br />approval to begin the recruitment process to fill the Parks Lead Worker position left <br />vacant by Mr. Nelson. <br /> <br />fl'he Parks Lead Worker position was advertised internally, interviews were conducted <br />and staff' is recommending Michael Berge for the Parks Lead Worker position. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff recommends that Michael Berge, Parks Maintenance Worker, be hired as the Parks <br />I~ead Worker effective September 14, 2005 at a starting wage of $18.54 per hour. Mr. <br />Bcrgc's probationary period will be six months and all other personnel policies will apply <br />normally. <br /> <br />Corn mittee Action <br /> <br />Motion recommending that the City Council grant authorization to hire Michael Berge as <br />thc Parks Lead Worker effective September 14, 2005 at a starting wage of $18.54 per <br />hour.
