Tree preservation plan means a plan identifying and showing the location, type, size and health of trees,
<br />stating the ultimate disposition of the trees, showing the type, size and location of any trees to be planted and
<br />setting forth measures to protect trees before, during and after construction.
<br />Tree protection area means any portion of a site wherein are located existing trees which are proposed to be
<br />retained in order to comply with the requirements of this chapter. The tree protection area shall include no less
<br />than the total area beneath the tree canopy as defined by the dripline of the tree or group of trees collectively.
<br />Tree service means any person, firm, or corporation engaged in the business of cutting, trimming, pruning,
<br />spraying, injecting chemicals, or removing trees or shrubs for compensation.
<br />Trees, shrubs, andnatural vegetation means all vegetation, woody or otherwise, except grass and flowers less
<br />than 24 inches in height.
<br />Urban means of, relating to, characteristic of, constituting a city.
<br />Usable open space means a required ground area or terrace area on a lot which is graded, developed,
<br />landscaped and equipped and intended and maintained for either active or passive recreation or both, available
<br />and accessible to and useable by all persons occupying a dwelling unit or rooming unit on the lot and their guests.
<br />Such areas shall be grassed and landscaped or covered only for a recreational purpose. Roofs, driveways, parking
<br />areas and drainage or ponding areas shall not constitute useable open space.
<br />Use, principal, means the purpose or activity for which the land or building thereon is designated, arranged,
<br />or intended, or for which it is occupied, utilized or maintained, and shall include the performance of such activity
<br />as defined by the performance standards of this chapter.
<br />Vegetated or grassed swales means a vegetated earthen channel that conveys stormwater, while treating
<br />the stormwater by biofiltration. Such swales remove pollutants by both filtration and infiltration.
<br />Vegetation means the sum total of plant life in some area; or a plant community with distinguishable
<br />characteristics.
<br />Vehicle repair, major, means general repair, rebuilding or reconditioning engines, motor vehicles or trailers,
<br />collision service, including body, frame or fender straightening or repair, overall painting or paint job.
<br />Vehicle repair, minor, means minor repairs, replacement of parts and motor services to passenger
<br />automobiles and trucks not exceeding 9,000 pounds gross weight, but not including any operation specified under
<br />Vehicle repair, major.
<br />Vehicle wrecking yard means any place where vehicle not in running condition and/or not licensed, or parts
<br />thereof, are stored in the open or any land used for wrecking or storing of such motor vehicles or parts thereof,
<br />and including any commercial salvaging and scavenging of any other goods, articles or merchandise.
<br />Wall sign means any sign which is affixed to a wall of any building. This definition includes individual letter
<br />signs and signs on mansards.
<br />Water body means a body of water (lake, pond) in a depression of land or expanded part of a river, or an
<br />enclosed basin that holds water and is surrounded by land.
<br />Water table means:
<br />(1) The surface of the groundwater at which the pressure is atmospheric. Generally, this is the top of the
<br />saturated zone; or
<br />(2) The uppermost part of the soil that is wholly saturated with water.
<br />Watercourse means a channel or depression through which water flows, such as rivers, streams, ditches or
<br />creeks and may flow year-round or intermittently.
