bids per their proposal. <br />Observations/Alternatives: <br />Alternative #1 — Adopt Resolution #22-040 approving plans and specifications and authorizing advertisements for <br />bids for Improvement Project #22-05, Riverdale Drive Trunk Utility Improvements, Llama Street to Bowers Drive. <br />Funding Source: <br />Pursuant to Resolution #21-305, Bolton and Menk, Inc. (BMI) prepared final plans and specifications for this <br />project at a not to exceed cost of $188,070, which included an alternate fee to prepare plans and specifications for <br />constructing a watermain loop between the south and north sides of Highway 10 in the area of Puma Street. This <br />loop is included in the City's Comprehensive Water Supply Plan, and Council approved adding this design to the <br />plans. BMI's plan preparation and bid administration fees, along with other administrative, engineering, finance and <br />legal fees, is included in the indirect project costs. <br />Below are BMI's opinion of probable construction costs for Improvement Project #22-05 based on their current <br />plans, which are purposely not attached to this case to prevent anyone from using the plans to submit a bid outside <br />of the QuestCDN process. <br />Probable Construction Costs <br />Street and Trail = $ 425,345 <br />Storm Sewer = $ 154,285 <br />Sanitary Sewer = $ 1,564,970 <br />Watermain = $ 797,600 <br />Total = $ 2,942,200 <br />Total probable project costs, which include 23-percent indirect fees, totals $3,618,906. <br />Project costs related to street and trail improvements will be paid using Municipal State Aid (MSA) funds. The <br />$612,000 in Local Partnership Program funds previously awarded by MnDOT will be used to pay for street and <br />trail improvements constructed as part of Improvement Project #20-05. <br />Project costs related to sanitary sewer, water and stormwater improvements will be paid using the respective <br />enterprise funds. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends approving Alternative #1. <br />Again, a recommendation from the Public Works Committee was not requested for this project due to the need to <br />advertise this project as soon as possible to accommodate the long lead time currently being observed between <br />ordering utility pipes and appurtenant materials and the delivery of such materials. <br />Action: <br />Adopt Resolution #22-040 approving plans and specifications and authorizing advertisements for bids for <br />Improvement Project #22-05, Riverdale Drive Trunk Utility Improvements, Llama Street to Bowers Drive. <br />ACTION: Resolution 22-040 <br />BMI Design and Bid Proposal <br />Title Sheet IP2205 Plans <br />Attachments <br />Form Review <br />
