0� 7466rl�lmlzweolz- olzwevz- <br /> 1 Improving Ramsey Through Transportation, <br /> Street Maintenance and Water Quality <br /> 4 <br /> By Kurt Ulrich, City Administrator <br /> A new Highway 10 is coming!After decades of planning, the final upgrade to a freeway <br /> design for most of US Highway 10 in Ramsey is about to commence.At a recent business <br /> forum sponsored by the City's Economic Development Authority,about 125 local business <br /> leaders joined together to review the plans for this community changing project. Construc- <br /> tion will begin this April on the Anoka portion of Highway 10 and the following year the <br /> work in Ramsey will begin.For the first time, the City of Ramsey will have a direct freeway <br /> connection to the Twin Cities metropolitan area and Greater Minnesota. Ultimately,this <br /> means faster and safer travel for commuters.This new transportation corridor will have tre- <br /> mendous benefit and will be a credit to all those that helped to make the project a reality. <br /> Other street improvements start closer to home.Spring is pothole season in Minnesota. <br /> If you see a bothersome pothole,please call Public Works at 763-433-9820 and City crews <br /> will be out to fix it as soon as they are able.Notably,the City Council has recently committed <br /> over$1 million dollars of additional annual funding to street repairs through creation of a <br /> Pavement Management Program.Upgrading the quality of our local streets is a high priority. <br /> a, Speaking of investments,the City is currently working on the design for a water treatment <br /> plant that will greatly improve the quality of water for nearly 5,250 households currently <br /> being served by our municipal water service. <br /> Ramsey has experienced naturally occurring <br /> high iron and manganese in the City's water <br /> supply and the City is acting to correct the <br /> problem (see related article on page 10).Pro- <br /> viding high quality water to the households <br /> we serve is imperative.For water saving tips Marketing Opportunities <br /> and rebate opportunities offered by the City, in the Official <br /> check out the article on page 7.
