Voting No: None.

Case #3: Replacement of Police Department Squad Equipment

Police Chief Gustafson stated that the Police Department is requesting the replacement of two
Radar Units, two First Aid Kits, and one Siren/Light Controller. These items will replace
existing equipment and will be placed in the 2001 squad cars, which are due in the first part of
February. There is sufficient funding in the Equipment Revolving Fund to cover these
purchases. The radar units in Squad #303 and Squad #301 have exceeded their life expectancy
and are in need of replacement. The Police Department currently utilizes Kustom Signal radar
units and the above are available factory direct at the sale price of $1,697.00 until January 25,
2001. (Normally $2,080 each) Two first aid/oxygen kits, that were purchased in 1990, are in
need of replacement due to wear and tear. Verbal price quotes were obtained from PARR
Medical and EMP Inc. EMP sustains the best price at $89.95 each. Currently the Unitrol
Siren/Light Controller in Squad #305 is in need of replacement. Verbal quotes were received
from a local Federal Signal Vendor and found too high. The Police Department would like to
replace this unit with a Mastercom Siren Controller at 4399.00 and a Switch Controller at
$69.99.

Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to recommend that City
Council adopt the resolution authorizing the purchase of two Kustom Signal Radar Units from

Kustom
Medical
and SW
utilizing

Signal for a total of $3,424.00 including shipping; two First Aid Kits from PARR
for a total of $191.60 (including tax and shipping); one MasterCom Siren Controller
300 Switch Box from Gall's Inc. for a total of $524.49 (including shipping and tax),
funds from the Equipment Revolving Fund.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Anderson, Hendriksen, Kurak,
and Zimmerman. Voting No: None.

Finance Committee/January 23, 2001
