Case #4: Purchase of Audio Visual Presentation Equipment Police Chief Gustafson stated that the'City of Ramsey is allowed to purchase equipment necessary to fulfill the conditions and terms of the work agreement between the Minnesota Department of Health and the City of Ramsey (Youth Tobacco Access Grant). The following items will assist the Police Department in presenting its tobacco enforcement and education initiative to both youth and licensees. A Panasonic Toughbook Model CF48N4FKUDM laptop computer, one Sony brand data projection and an Anchor brand AC powered speaker. These capital items, if approved, can be ordered fi:om the State of Minnesota contract and received within two weeks. The total cost would be $7,949.16. The funding source would be the State Tobacco Grant. Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if there was an option to upgrade the three year warranty on the equipment. Police Chief Gustafson replied that he would look into that. Case #5: 2002 Capital Equipment Schedule Finance Officer Lund stated that at the Board. of Adjustment meeting on May 1, 2001, the variance of Amcor was denied due to the lack of adequate service that could be provided by public safety. Three years prior, The Savannah Oaks Senior Center was given a variance, with the assurance that an aerial truck would be pUrchased in the near future. A 35-foot height restriction was established because of the limitations current public safety equipment encounters. To combat this restriction, an aerial fire truck is needed which would allow reaches of up to 100 feet. This also would allow a safer work environment for the City's public safety employees. Without the service of an aerial truck, the City cannot meet the safety requirements of some businesses that desire to build within the City limits.
