PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA The Ramsey Park and Recreation Commission conducted a regular meeting on April 12, 2001, at Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. Members Present: Chairperson Todd Cook Commissioner Jill Johns Commissioner Tom LaMere Commissioner Steve Ostrum Commissioner Michael Rolfe Members Absent: Commissioner Reid Droegemueller Also Present: Parks/Utilities Supervisor Mark Boos CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Cook called the regular Park and Recreation Commission meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. CITIZEN INPUT RYAA Representative Richard Quaal stated that there is going to be 550 participants in the soccer program this year, which is up 100 from last summer. He explained that they are in the process of trying to determine how they are going to get enough fields in the City to accommodate all of the players and expressed the urgent need for getting Elmcrest Park completed. He also inquired if it would be possible to convert the soccer fields at Rivers Bend Park into larger fields because there are two traveling teams, which are required to have fields at least 100 feet in length and 55 to 70 feet in width. Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos replied that he thought it would be possible to convert the field at Rivers Bend Park, but requested that RYAA submit all of their field requests as soon as possible because staff is working on spring maintenance of the fields which includes their layout. Commissioner Rolfe inquired as to how many fields RYAA would need to accommodate the amount of players they currently have. Mr. Quaal replied that if the fields can be adjusted at Rivers Bend Park they should have an adequate number of fields for this year.
