Community Development Director Tmdgeon explained the direction has
bccn given to follow the southern alignment, but the alignment that was presented at the work
session was not precise. Assistant Public Works Director Olson requested clarification whether
the intent is to construct the segment of 167th Avenue out to CR 5 at the time of final plat. He
noted if this is not done all of the traffic will be pushed through two 90-degee tums.
Councihncmber Elvig stressed the need to extend 167th Avenue to CR 5 as soon as possible to
mitigate traffic issues. He noted this is included in the Capital Improvement Plan and the
Comprehensive Plan. This road is identified as an MSA street in the City's plans, which will
require certain angle and speed capabilities. Mayor Gamec suggested staff begin talking to
residents in this area regarding the plans for the street extension. Mr. Peterson indicated
Oakwood Land Development has been aggressively working oh this southern alignment. Their
engineers have worked under the understanding that this route is only a proposal.
