Case #3: Master Trail Plan <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos presented the Master Trail Plan which was dealt with by the Park <br />and Recreation Commission almost a year ago. He reviewed the revisions that had been made to <br />the Plan and advised that it will be presented to the City Council with a request that they <br />authorize RFPs for a consultant to prepare a Master Trail Plan. <br /> <br />Case #4: Resignation of Commissioner Droegemueller <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos presented the resignation of Reid Droegemueller which was <br />effective July 1, 2001. <br /> <br />Commissioner LaMere asked if this vacancy will be advertised. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos stated it may be advertised in this issue of the Ramsey Resident <br />but he is unsure of the Council's procedure for filling this vacancy. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook stated his support that the appointment process involve some input from the <br />Park and Recreation Commission. He stated he will contact the Council to express these <br />thoughts. <br /> <br />COMMISSION/STAFF INPUT <br /> <br />Commissioner Rolfe asked about the status of joint trails between Ramsey and Elk River. <br /> <br />Parks/utilities Supervisor Boos reviewed his conversation with Elk River staff and commented <br />on the need for support from the Ramsey City Council, Elk River, Anoka County, and other <br />entities. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rolfe commented on the importance of assuring the future by the actions of today. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos stated the August agenda will include the RFP draft. He advised <br />of comments received about the need for a rock climbing wall and a bike track. He noted the <br />location of a nearby bike track, and potential for a rock climbing wall in one of the City's parks. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook inquired about the liability issues with a rock climbing wall. <br /> <br />Parks/utilities Supervisor Boos suggested it could be part of the private sector's Health Quest <br />programming. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rolfe advised of a fitness trail located in Coon Rapids that contains exercise <br />stations. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook stated Elk River has a similar park. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission/July 12, 2001 <br /> Page 5 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
