In addition, he believed there was a need to better define the <br />percentages of recreational space that are required. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rolfe stated his support to have a tree preservation ordinance in place. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos asked if the Commission would support spending Park <br />Dedication dollars to hire a consultant to draft a tree preservation ordinance. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rolfe stated he would support authorizing.a certain dollar amount if that process <br />would work. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos estimated a cost of $8,000 to $15,000. <br /> <br />Commissioners Johns and Rolfe indicated their support to do so. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook asked if staff could check with other cities to obtain copies of their ordinances <br />related to requiring tot lots for higher density and a tree ordinance. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos advised that the revisions on Subdivision 9 are underway and <br />those issues can be incorporated into that revision. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook stated it is the consensus of the Park and Recreation Commission to authorize <br />the use of a limited amount of park dedication fees to further a tree conservation ordinance or <br />policy. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos stated that recommendation can be presented before the City <br />Council for their consideration. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission/July 12, 2001 <br /> Page 4 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
