7550 Sunwood Drive NW • Ramsey, MN 55303 <br />City Hall: 763.427.1410 • Fax: 763.427.5543 <br />www.cityoframsey.com <br />April 6, 2022 <br />FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br />Ramsey City Administrator Kurt Ulrich Announces Retirement <br />City Administrator Kurt Ulrich has announced plans to retire as Ramsey's longest - <br />serving City Administrator this corning May. <br />Dr. Ulrich has served nearly fifteen years as the City of Ramsey's chief executive officer. <br />Ulrich started his career in 1980 as a student intern employee in the City of Eagan, Minnesota. <br />This was the beginning of a distinguished 42-year career in public service. <br />Along the way, Ulrich served as an Assistant City Administrator/City Planner in Oakdale <br />and as city administrator for Champlin and Mounds View, Minnesota. He also served four years <br />as a senior administrator at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources during the Ventura <br />administration. <br />During his career, Ulrich served as President of the Metropolitan Manager's Association <br />and on the governing boards of the Minnesota City and County Managers Association board of <br />directors, the Quad Cities Communications Commission, the North Metro Mayor's Association, <br />the Rum River Arts Center and several others. <br />Some of the major achievements the City accomplished under Ulrich's leadership in <br />Ramsey included: <br />• Rescue of the COR area (previously known as the Ramsey Town Center) from financial <br />failure to a successful multi -use suburban development that has resulted in millions of <br />dollars in residential and commercial development. <br />• Construction of the Armstrong interchange on US Highway 10, and working to secure <br />full funding for additional upgrades to Highway 10, known as the Ramsey Gateway. <br />• Planning, funding and construction of a new public works facility to meet the long-term <br />needs of the community. <br />• Development of a long-term funding program and plan to maintain city streets. <br />• Funding and construction of the North Star Rail Station. <br />• Securing the Veteran's Administration Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Ramsey. <br />• Fire Station 2 construction and the redevelopment of the former City Hall site. <br />• Construction of the Highway 47 Water tower and planning for a new water treatment <br />plant, expected to be open in 2024. <br />• Development of a new industrial park west of Armstrong Boulevard. <br />• Funding and Construction of the Elmcrest Park community building. <br />• Funding and construction of the Draw Park pond and community amphitheater. <br />
