COMMITTEE INPUT

1) Central Records System

Sergeant Way updated the Board on the status of the County's record keeping system.

2) Radio System

Sergeant Way stated that the County is currently looking to get out of the radio system and with
the current systems being outdated, the City of Ramsey could be asked to pay one million dollars
to update the system in the near future. He wanted to put the Board on notice that it might be a
possibility in the near future.

Chairperson Anderson stated that the current system will need maintenance that will be a $1.5
million-dollar band aid County-wide, but are needed because there are certain pockets where
Police cannot contact each other which puts them in danger.

Sergeant Way stated that the City needs to begin discussing how the City would cover the cost if
it becomes necessary. He explained that if the City's system crashes and the County places the
responsibility on the City they have to be prepared.

3) Appointment to the Board

Chairperson Anderson recommended that the Board Members bring back recommendations for
appointment to the Board for consideration at the next Public Safety Board meeting.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Board Member Kurak, seconded by Board Member Lewandowski, to adjourn the
meeting.

Motion carried.

The regular meeting of the Public Safety Board adjourned at 6:08 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Nanci Libor
Recording Secretary
TimeSaver Off Site Secretarial, Inc.

Dean K~al~ler ~

Director of Public Works/Fire Chief

Public Safety Board/October 25, 2001
