Adding indirect costs for administrative, engineering, finance and legal costs in the amount of
23-percent brings total project costs to $689,903.13.
Per the final plans and specifications, estimated construction costs were $447,283.25. After adding 23-percent
indirect costs, estimated project costs totaled$509,902.91.
The low bid is 25-percent more than the engineer's estimate. The engineer's estimate reflects bid item unit costs
from early year projections. Because this estimate was calculated prior to opening bids on other City improvements,
Staff did not adjust the unit costs based off of the more recent data. In addition to the higher than estimated
bituminous pavement, hauling, and aggregate base construction costs observed with earlier bids, the bid prices
received for this project for mobilization of equipment and iron also increased significantly.
