Public Works Metal Building Improvements <br />By: Grant Riemer, Public Works Supervisor <br /> <br />FC CASE <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />In 1998, the Public Works Department began making improvements to the metal building <br />located at the public works garage. Improvements to date include interior lighting, <br />electrical outlets, and replacement of four overhead garage doors. The new garage doors <br />are wider and include automatic openers. Staff has also removed an interior loading dock <br />and changed the location of a service door. All of these improvements have increased the <br />utilization of the building. <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey Capital Improvement Program includes a project to improve the <br />metal building at the Public Works Facility. For 2000, staff proposes improvements in <br />the following areas: <br /> <br />Install heating and ventilation systems for the entire building <br />Install insulation on exterior walls and replace the metal siding <br /> <br />As the above improvements will be over $25,000 each, the City is required by law to <br />advertise for sealed bids. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends Council authorize preparation of specifications for improvements and <br />advertise for bids. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to authorize staff to prepare specifications for improvements and advertise for <br />bids. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />Public Works Supervisor <br />City Administrator <br />Finance Director <br />Director of Public Works <br /> <br />CC: 06/08/00 <br /> <br /> <br />
