CC Regular Session 5. 7. <br /> Meeting Date: 06/28/2022 <br /> By: Colleen Lasher,Administrative <br /> Services <br /> Information <br /> Title <br /> Authorization to Hire a Police Officer Filling a Current Vacancy <br /> Purpose/Background: <br /> The purpose of this case is to request the City Council to hire a Police Officer,backfilling a current Police Officer <br /> vacancy that was created when a veteran Police Officer retired in March 2022. <br /> An internal and external recruitment was conducted. Mr.Nolan Goebel met the necessary training and experience <br /> threshold and was invited to take part in the City's interview process,the physical agility fitness testing, and the <br /> "shoot/don't shoot" video scenario activity. Staff selected Mr.Nolan Goebel as a finalist to be advanced through the <br /> background testing. At this time, Chief Katers is recommending Mr.Nolan Goebel for the position of Police <br /> Officer with the City of Ramsey. <br /> It may be of interest to the City Council that Mr. Goebel was previously employed with the City of Ramsey as a <br /> Community Service Officer. He left the City to work as a sworn officer with the Minnesota State Patrol and now <br /> would like to join our team again. <br /> With the City Council's authorization,Mr. Goebel start date as a new Police Officer will be on or near July 13, <br /> 2022. Mr. Goebel, as with all new Police Officers,will serve a 1-year probationary period and will be subject to the <br /> City's Personnel Policy and the LELS Patrol Labor Agreement. <br /> Notification: <br /> All Police Officers are covered by the LELS -Patrol Labor Agreement. <br /> Funding Source: <br /> The funding required for this position is included in the 2022 budget and represents a saving over the previous <br /> employee in this role. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> Authorize staff to hire Mr.Nolan Goebel as a full-time Police Officer, effective on or near July 13, 2022 at$29.271 <br /> per hour which is step 1 of the 2022 wage scale. <br /> Action: <br /> Motion to hire Mr. Nolan Goebel as a full-time Police Officer, effective on or near July 13, 2022 at$29.271 per <br /> hour,which is step 1 of the 2022 wage scale. <br /> Attachments <br /> Job Description <br /> Form Review <br /> Inbox Reviewed By Date <br />
