vc# I

CITY OF ANOKA SWIMMING POOL RESIDENT RATE PROPOSAL FOR
RAMSEY RESIDENTS
By: Mark Boos, Parks &Utilities Supervisor

Background:

As Council may recall, in 1997 Ramsey City Council appropriated $12,000 to Anoka for
their new Aquatic Center to receive resident rates for Ramsey pool-goers. This consisted
of a $4,000 payment in 1997, 1998 as well as last year from the Lawful Gambling
Improvement fund.

On October 12, 2000 the Park and Recreation Committee discussed the current request
and 'received citizen input. The consensus of the Commission was that the $12,000
would have a better impact if spent on a Capital Improvement within Ramsey -rather than
on an activity outside City limits. The following items are enclosed for your information:
1. October 3, 2000 proposal from Anoka
2. Andover/Ramsey participation data
3. October 10, 2000 Park and Recreation draft meeting minutes

The City of Anoka's Aquatic Center manager has offered to make a presentation if
desired by the Committee.

Council Action:

Based upon discussion.

Reviewed by:

Parks/Utilities Supervisor
Finance Officer

Copies to:

Director of Public Works

CC: 10/24/00

G:\users\City Shared FileXPublic Works Department\Committees'Park & Rec.
