CASE #.~ <br /> <br />REQUEST TO RECONSIDER PLAN cHECK FEES FOR TOWNHOMES <br /> By: Community Development Director Sylvia Frolik <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />In September of 2000, the City Council was asked to consider whether or not plan check fees <br />should be charged on second and subsequent building permits for identical townhomes within a <br />subdivision or project area. After reviewing the policies of 17 surrounding communities, the <br />Council made a decision to collect plan check fees on all townhomes. <br /> <br />This question was initiated by Tim Strong of Strongbuilt Homes. His company is constructing <br />some of the townhomes in Mallard Ponds. He was not present when the Council discussed the <br />matter in September and he would like an opportunity to present his position to the Council. <br /> <br />The following survey was presented to Council in September and is repeated here for your <br />information. <br /> <br />Collect 100% of Plan Check Fee on All Structures: <br /> <br />Andover <br />Brooklyn Center <br />Brooklyn Park <br />Champlin <br />Columbia Heights <br />Elk River <br />Lino Lakes <br />Maple Grove <br />Maplewood <br />Oakdale <br />Shoreview <br /> <br />Collect 100% of Plan Check Fee on 1 st Structure and Waive on 2na and Subsequent Structures <br /> <br />Collect 100% of Plan <br /> <br />Anoka <br />Coon Rapids <br /> <br />Check Fee on 1 st Structure and a Reduced Fee on 2nd and Subsequent <br /> <br />Structures: <br /> <br />Blaine - 50% <br />Forest Lake - 50% <br />Plymouth - 25% <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Will be based on your discussion <br /> <br />Review Checklist: <br />Building Official <br /> <br />FC: 11/28/00 <br /> <br /> <br />
