FC CASE # <br /> <br />SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER GRANT CONTRACT <br /> By: David Gustafson, Police Chief <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />In March 2000, the Ramsey Police Department made application to the Anoka County Children <br />and Family Council for collaborative funding to assign a poliCe officer to the Ramsey <br />Elementary School for a majority of the year 2001. A grant of $26,041 was approved in May <br />2000. <br /> <br />In October 2000, Council authorized the hiring of a patrol officer to be trained and ready to work <br />the streets in January 2001, when another officer would be assigned to investigation as a juvenile <br />and school resource officer. All indications are that the new officer will be ready in January <br />2001. The officer to be assigned to the investigation/school position has been selected and is <br />making ready to begin January 3, 2001. All that remains is for the City of Ramsey and Anoka <br />County to execute a signed contract, which is enclosed for Council review and approval. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends entering into a signed contract with Anoka County, the fiscal and contracting <br />agent for Anoka County Children and Family Council, in order to accept a grant in the amount of <br />$26,041 dollars.
