Mayor (htmcc stated in the past road improvements have been addressed based on petitions. He <br />suggested the homeowners must sign a petition for the Council to bring this discussion to a work <br />scssiol~. <br /> <br />Councilmembcr Jeffrey directed staff to determine if the homeowners have come to an <br />agreement and that the situation has been diffused, as there needs to be some sort of closure to <br />this situation. <br /> <br />Council member Cook stated the homeowners should understand that the only action the City can <br />tal~o to resolve the situation is to improve the road to a full width road. If the homeowners want <br />something other than that they will need to come to an agreement amongst themselves. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich advised at the current time 160th Lane is a public road that the City will <br />mai ntai n and snowplow. <br /> <br />Committee/Staff Input <br /> <br />Receive Request from Colleen Fisher for a stop sign at 154th Lane at Marmoset <br /> <br />Councilmcmber Elvig reported that the City has received a request from a resident for a stop sign <br />at 154~h l,ane and Marmoset. Further information will be brought to the next Public Works <br />Committee meeting. <br /> <br />City Standards for 8 Foot versus 10 Foot Trails <br /> <br />Assistan! Public Works Director Olson reviewed the cost analysis regarding 8 foot trails versus <br />1() fi)et trails as a standard in the City that was provided to the Public Works Committee. He <br />advised the recommendation of staff and the Public Works Committee was to include a 10 foot <br />trail payor in the budget, and to explore the cost and benefits of purchasing a larger trail paver. <br /> <br />Moti(m by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Public Works Committee in Committee/Staff Input and to direct staff to <br />i~cludc a 10 foot trail paver in the budget, and to explore the cost and benefits of purchasing a <br />larger lrail paver. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Cook, Jeffrey, Olson, <br />P~'arson, and Strommen. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Elvig directed staffto provide the Council with the cost of <br />tlqe trail pavers that was included in the Public Works Committee discussion. Assistant Public <br />Works l)irector Olson indicated the information will be included in the Weekly Update. <br /> <br />Mayor (;amcc stated he has been contacted by concerned residents regarding the impact a 10 <br />lbot trail width will make on their property in the area south of 160th and St. Francis Boulevard. <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson replied the street in this area will be 28 feet wide and will <br />include an 8 foot striped trail. <br /> <br />City Council / October 11, 2005 <br /> Page 15 of 17 <br /> <br /> <br />
