COUNCIL BUSINESS <br />7.01: Adopt Resolution #22-162 Approving Grant from Sign and Awning Program: Miss <br />Iz Ice Cream LLC <br /> <br />City Administrator Hagen reviewed the proposed resolution and the EDA recommendation for <br />approval. He noted the applicant is in the audience. <br /> <br />Ethan Pratt from Miss Iz Ice Cream and Soda Pop Shop stated the business will be located at 14050 <br />St. Francis Boulevard, Suite B2 #10. They plan to open in the coming months, this is his second <br />business, and his wife couldn’t attend the meeting tonight because she was running the other <br />business in Anoka. He stated they hope to open an ice cream shop in Ramsey in the former Papa <br />Murphy’s space. He stated there has been positive feedback from the community about it. He <br />stated his vision is for a family friendly establishment. He stated his one-year daughter has an <br />affinity for ice cream and the business is named after her. <br /> <br />Mayor Kuzma commented he was excited for Mr. Pratt and appreciated that he plans to open an <br />ice cream shop in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Councilmember Howell welcomed Mr. Pratt and stated she was excited to have him be a part of <br />the community. She hoped this meeting could be a little bit of a promotion for his new business. <br /> <br />Councilmember Musgrove welcomed Mr. Pratt to Ward Four. She stated she wasn’t happy when <br />Papa Murphy’s left but she understood why. She stated she is excited and is looking forward to <br />the business coming into the area. She stated she thought it will be a benefit to the neighborhood. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Musgrove, seconded by Councilmember Howell, to adopt Resolution <br />#22-162 Approving Grant from Sign and Awning Program to Miss Iz Ice Cream LLC <br /> <br />Further discussion: <br />Councilmember Specht welcomed Mr. Pratt and commented on a cute picture of Mr. Pratt’s <br />Facebook page. He stated he thought it looks like it will be a great establishment. Councilmember <br />Riley commented he is looking forward to it also. He stated this is through the EDA program in <br />Ramsey trying to bring in restaurants and this is one of the items the EDA thought they could do <br />is help with the awnings. He stated there are a couple other programs which wouldn’t apply in <br />this case but he thought this was a good use of these dollars.
