Unit of general local government has the meaning given to that term in section 102(a)(1) <br />of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 (42 U.S.C. 5302(a)(1)). <br />§ 35.4 Reservation of authority, reporting. <br />(a) Reservation of authority. Nothing in this part shall limit the authority of the Secretary <br />to take action to enforce conditions or violations of law, including actions necessary to prevent <br />evasions of this subpart. <br />(b) Extensions or accelerations of timing. The Secretary may extend or accelerate any <br />deadline or compliance date of this part, including reporting requirements that implement this <br />subpart, if the Secretary determines that such extension or acceleration is appropriate. In <br />determining whether an extension or acceleration is appropriate, the Secretary will consider the <br />period of time that would be extended or accelerated and how the modified timeline would <br />facilitate compliance with this subpart. <br />(c) Reporting and requests for other information. During the period of performance, <br />recipients shall provide to the Secretary periodic reports providing detailed accounting of the <br />uses of funds, modifications to a State or Territory's tax revenue sources, and such other <br />information as the Secretary may require for the administration of this section. In addition to <br />regular reporting requirements, the Secretary may request other additional information as may be <br />necessary or appropriate, including as may be necessary to prevent evasions of the requirements <br />of this subpart. False statements or claims made to the Secretary may result in criminal, civil, or <br />administrative sanctions, including fines, imprisonment, civil damages and penalties, debarment <br />from participating in Federal awards or contracts, and/or any other remedy available by law. <br />413 <br />
