• Must reside within the allowed distance for responding to on -call situations (within 30 <br />minutes) <br />• Must be a member of the on -call team <br />• Must have experience in the operation and maintenance of construction equipment <br />• Must pass a criminal history check and driver's license check <br />• Must pass a pre -employment physical exam and drug screen <br />DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS <br />• Previous experience in commercial snow plowing <br />• Previous experience working with asphalt pavements <br />• Previous experience working with street sweeping equipment <br />• Previous experience working in a county or municipal environment <br />ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: <br />Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following: <br />• Construct/maintain streets, parking lots and related property <br />• Perform snow related activities <br />• Perform general maintenance and general activities <br />• Perform general labor <br />• Perform motorized vehicle equipment maintenance <br />• Perform/assist with landscape/grounds care/forestry/naturalist activities <br />• Provide assistance with preparation of community events <br />• If the hired applicant has a Commercial driver's license (Class B) must obtain a <br />Commercial driver's license (Class A) within six (6) months of hire <br />• Perform a wide range of tasks at the verbal or written direction (within the ability and <br />resources of the Public Works Streets Maintenance Worker) from the Public Works <br />Superintendent, Streets Supervisor, Parks Supervisor, Utility Supervisor or Streets <br />Lead or their designee <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: <br />• Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions and communicate in English <br />• Ability to work independently with limited supervision <br />• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including cold or hot temperatures, <br />high humidity, wind, or rain <br />• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and co-workers <br />• Ability to transport oneself to and around the work site <br />• General knowledge of maintenance and landscape principles (streets, parks, facilities) <br />• Ability to upgrade their Commercial Class B driver's license to a Commercial Class A <br />driver's license within six (6) months of hire <br />
