City of Ramsey

Questions for Incumbent Commissioners
Seeking Keappointment

).

1). Tom Anderson

Date: October 12, 200,5

What do you feel has been the most important accomplishment of the Commission during
your term of office?

Given that the Board is an advisory body, accomplishment is difficult to quantify. As aBoard,
we gave reasoned and thoughtful advice on the matters brought before. The most notablehas
been the question of whether to purchase an aerial fire fighting truck, sighting of the new fire
station and the expansion of supervisory positions within the Police Department.

What do you feel has been your most important personal contribution to the Commission's
work during your term in office?

I have attempted to apply my experience in law enforcement and emergency management to
the benefit of the Board.

What has been your greatest frustration as a commissioner?

haven't experienced frustration as a Board member.

4. In your opinion, what would make the Commission more effective?

The Public Safety Board is not frequently utilized. This is likely a testament to the high
quality of the Police and Fire Departments and their executive personnel. If the Board is to be
more effective, it will need to be consulted in meaningful issues facing the Police and Fire
Departments. I hasten to add that this consultation should be need based, not an effort to
make the Board more active.

What would you like to see the Commission accomplish during the next two years?

I would like the Board to be a useful resource to the City's public safety agencies in their
continued pursuit of professional excellence.
