The adjacent property oxvner has approached the City
-about using the building as expansion office space. Council directed staff to research options for
the building and site.

Chairperson Johns stated it is a designated historical site by the National Historical Society and if
moved it looses that designation. She also wondered if they needed to pay back the grant money
associated with this.

Parks/Utilities Supervisor Pdverblood indicated some of the grant money may need to be paid
back.

Commissioner Lehman_ wondered if there has been a~p..~!~put from the historical society.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood thought they were aware of it.

Civil Engineer 1I Linton stated if moved, there will be economic gain from the land sale but if it
remained there, it would not be useable.

Chairperson Johns wondered if the Parks Commission accepted it, would this become a part of
park inventory and would the parks have to pay for the moving and renovation of the building.

Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood thought the sale of the land would pay for the moving plus
renovation.

Chairperson Johns stated as is, the building needs significant work for anyone to use it. She
thought there should be some sort of educational element included with this building.

Commissioner Ostrmm stated he was thinking it would be a good idea to move the building to
Elmcrest Park.

Commissioner Olds agreed and thought Town Center was more modern. He thought this could
be a place where school kids could go for an educational experience. Elmcrest is more of an
re'ban area.

Chairperson Johns stated sh9 is not opposed to Elmcrest or the larger parks to have the building
placed but it may get renovated quicker at Town Center.

Park and Recreation Commission/October 13, 2005
Page 2 of 8
