WINTER BUSINESS NETWORK MEETING
By: Sean SulLivan, Economic Development/TIF Specialist

CASE # 1

Background:

'l'h~: ~DA decided it is beneficial to continue to host Business Network Meetings. The Winter
network meeting will be scheduled for sometime in January, be held in the morning, and would
like include a catered breakfast. Staff would like to begin contacting desired speakers to verify
:~twfilability and cost. Staff hopes to secure a speaker and set a specific date for the Winter
t~c~:~i~css ~etwork Meeting by early December. The last meeting held at Northfork was very
~;uccesst'[t] and the turn-out was excellent

Observations:

~1 ust ~'ccently, Anoka County Partners was created by the Anoka County. David Piggott is the
~ex.v l~xccutive Director for this body and his perspectives on regional and national economic
development issues would be very informative for our local businesses as well as staff. It would
be $tat1: recommendation to try to get Mr. Piggott to speak at the Winter meeting in January. At
past meetings we have served food and I think that this would be a good to do in future meetings.
Oti~er things to consider are who we might invite to the meeting and Staff is open to discussion
t'cgarding this matter. Connexus Energy has been contacted to host this event and is willing to
;tssist us in this matter,

Recommendation:

' 1]~: ' ~ t Piggott to at .
~' · I.,DA should rectues David speak the Winter Business Network Meeting the
W~:cI< o I: January 23m.

'['he [¢I)A provide a catered breakfast for the Winter Business Network Meeting.

E~)A: I 1.16.05
