PC# 3
CONSIDER AUTHORIZATION TO BEGIN THE RECRUITMENT
PROCESS FOR AN INVESTIGATIVE SERGEANT
By: Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager
Background
For several months the City Council has been discussing the 2006 budget and plans to
create additional positions. There appears to be consensus that the City Council will
approve an Investigative Sergeant position as part of the 2006 budget.
Staff is requesting authorization to begin an internal recruitment process for the
Investigative Sergeant position. If the position is approved as part of the 2006 budget,
the individual selected to fill this promotional opportunity will be officially hired by City
Council action after the 2006 budget is approved. If the position is not part of the 2006
budget, staff will terminate the recruitment process.
Staff Recommendation
Grant authorization to begin the recruitment process for the Investigative Sergeant.
Committee Action:
Motion to recommend that the City Council grant authorization to begin the internal
recruitment process for the Investigative Sergeant position.
PC: 11-22-05
—319—
