Member LeTourneau indicated he had been called. <br /> <br />Chair Riley asked if the customers would be surveyed as they pay. <br /> <br />Member LeTourneau stated they would. <br /> <br />Chair Riley asked if Mr. McComb had given any other reason for the dramatic price increase <br />other than a miscalculation. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman indicated it was not a miscalculation, it was a change in the scope of <br />the project. Originally it was to just run numbers, while the new scope is more detailed and <br />involves analysis. <br /> <br />Member Kurak asked what meetings were represented by the $4800 charge. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman indicated Mr. McCombs had three meeting with the Town Center <br />Task Force. He advised Mr. McCombs to factor in four meetings for this new study. <br /> <br />Chair Riley stated it appears to be a lot of money for work that they partially completed already. <br />He questioned if the McComb Group could piggyback off the demographics and additional <br />footwork done for the Town Center study. He found it surprising that the estimate would be <br />$20,000. <br /> <br />Member LeTourneau asked how long ago the Town Center study was completed. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman indicated summer of 2002. <br /> <br />Member Kurak asked if bids had been received from any other consultants. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman indicated they had. He stated the Town Center Task Force study <br />was mainly on housing. <br /> <br />Member Kurak asked where the city would get the funds for this study. <br /> <br />Associate Planner Wald indicated she spoke with the Finance Director, who advised the money <br />was available in the 2003 EDA fund. She was unsure of the exact amount available but stated <br />the survey would not use all of the EDA funds. <br /> <br />Member LeTourneau expressed his enthusiasm when the prospect of redeveloping this corner, <br />which includes his business. He suspects that the corner will be very different in a few years. <br />He stated that while he doesn't know how the Town Center will affect the area, he thinks there <br />will continue to be a need for services there. He stated his business has been on the corner for 18 <br />years, Supervalu for 20 years, both providing a consistent tax base for the City, not to mention <br />the job opportunities.
