Link speeds & distances are coded in the map properties
Was Sim Traffic run to review geometry & compare MOE's
with Synchro ~

3) The existing timing and phasing ii, formation for any signal operated by Metro District
is available by contracting Kevin Schwartz at 651-582~1278

CORSIM Analysis:
Data Collection: ~
Use approved travel demand forecasts to develop inputs for CORSIM modeling. This
task assumes at least two CORSIM models (2010 and 2030 using the preferred
alternative).

Review data for this project that relates' to traffic counts, turning movements, signal
timing, ramp metering and geometrics as supplied by the State and other agencies. If turn
movement counts are more than two years old, it will be the Contractor's responsibility to
obtain more recent data. Conduct field review of the traffic operations during the AM
and PM peak periods to aid in the calibration of the base model and to verify geometrics
and operations. Develop a technical memorandum discussing the field observations.
Provide' information about locations of existing bottleneck conditions, high weave areas
and mainline queue lengths.

Base Model Development:
Develop a link-node diagram and lane schematic that graphically represents the existing
network and includes all key design features. Interpolate bad or missing volume data,
convert data into 15-minute volumes, and balance the volume data for both the AM and
PM time period. Develop the AM and PM origin-destination matrices for all freeway
entrances and exits. Build the AM and PM base models to reflect the existing freeway
and arterials within the modeling limits. This includes entering volume data and traffic
signal and ramp meter control data. Verify that the network data has been coded'
con'ectly and develop a freeway quality control worksheet and an arterial quality control
worksheet that lists link information. Submit the base models and any supportive
materials to the State Project Manager for review and approval.

Base Model Calibration:
Calibrate the AM and PM base model according to CORSIM calibration parameters
presented in the "Advanced CORSIM Training Manual", incorporated by reference,
furnished to the Contractor at the beginning of the work. Submit AM and PM calibrated
model and supportive materials to the State for review and approval.

Design Year Traffic Analysis:
Develop a link-node diagram and.lane schematic of the network. Convert the year 2030
forecasted traffic data into AM and PM '15-minute volume data, balance the volume data
and check the volume data for capacity constraints. Develop AM and PM design year
(2030) origin-destination matrices for all freeway entrances and exits. Build the AM and
PM design year models. This includes entering volume data, traffic Signal and ramp

-520-
