Director of Public Works/ffire Chief Kapler stated that the Public Works staff has discussed ~e <br />issue several times and the consensus has been that they,would welcome the additional property. <br />Fie noted that currently the City owns the entire Alloy Recovery site. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman sm. ted that the City does currently own'the property, but it was his <br />recollection that the intention was to sell the land 'for economic development activity. :He left <br />that the land would be more beneficial for Public Works purposes. ' <br /> <br />Councflmember Anderson stated that her recollection was that the land has some environmental' <br />problems and if the land is used for public works purposes they would not have those issues to <br />deal with. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendr/ksen stated that the price Of Iand'is not going down and being that' the <br />land is currently next to the .existing pubiic works building it has a great deal of'value to the City. <br />He did not think that the City should be' actively trying to sell the land. <br /> <br />Councilmemher Kurak inquired if there will be a contract draf'~ed for the moving of th~ dirt. She <br />stated that she was concerned ,,vith the state of the'property after the dirt is removed. Ms. Kurak <br />wanted to make sure that'the land is left in a good workable condition. <br /> <br />Principal City En~neer Olson replied that Mr. Sourer has done work'for the City in the past and <br />has already agreed to bu. ild a haul route, lie noted that he did not plan on drafting a contract for <br />the work. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak stated that she' would not demand a contract, but she wanted to voice her <br />COtlCCFI1S. <br /> <br />Principal City Engineer Olson stated that the land is planned for a i°t of commercial deYelopment <br />and it is in their best interest to make sure the land is left in a good state. <br /> <br />Councihnember Zimmerm~ replied that he was sure that Mr. Sourer Would leave the land in a <br />good condition, bur lek Chat there should be something in the books identifying what the <br />transaction was. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gm'nec, seconded by Councilmember A_nderson, to recommend that the City <br />Council authorize staff to begin the necessary procedures to locate a cut-de~sac at the intersection <br />of Limonite Street N'W and 142n~ Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Mot/on tamed. Voting Yes: Mayor Garnet and Councilmembers Anderson, Kurak, Hendriksen, <br />and Zimmerman.
