Further discussion: Mayor Gamec indicated he has received several complaints regarding the <br />dewatering on TH 47 in the area of Elmcrest Park. City Engineer Jankowski replied the <br />dewatering will be completed within a couple of days. <br /> <br />Case #14: Report from Personnel Committee <br /> <br />1) Consider Ending Probationary Period for a Paid On-Call Fire Fighter <br /> <br />Acted on at the beginning of the meeting. <br /> <br />2) Consider Ending Probationary Period for Community Service Officer <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook stated Chris Curtis was hired as a Community Service Officer on May 9, <br />2005. The recommendation of staff, Mr. Curtis' supervisor, and the Personnel Committee is that <br />Mr. Curtis be retained as a full-time, regular Community Service Officer. <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />Consider Authorization to Begin the Recruitment Process for an Investigative <br />Sergeant <br /> <br />Councihnember Cook stated staff is requesting authorization to begin an internal recruitment <br />process for the Investigative Sergeant position that is expected to be included in the 2006 budget. <br />If the position is approved as part of the 2006 budget, the individual selected to fill this <br />promotional position will be officially hired by City Council action after the 2006 budget is <br />approved. If the position is not part of the 2006 budget, staff will terminate the recruitment <br />process. The recommendation of staff and the Personnel Committee was to authorize staff to <br />begin the recruitment process. <br /> <br />4) <br /> <br />Consider Resolution Amending the Policy for Appointing Board and <br />Commission Members <br /> <br />Councihnember Cook explained the proposed resolution would amend the policy for appointing <br />board and commission members so when an incumbent submits an application for <br />reappointment, that application is considered along with applications from the general public. <br />There were two motions made by the Personnel Committee. The first motion was to recommend <br />that the City Council extend the term of commission and board members coming to the end of <br />their term 60 days. The second motion was to move this discussion forward to a Council work <br />session in December. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee in Case Nos. 2 through 4 and to adopt Resolution <br />#05-11-392 ending the probationary period for Chris Curtis and granting him status as a full- <br />time, regular Community Service Officer effective November 9, 2005; adopt Resolution #05-11- <br />393 to grant authorization to begin the internal recruitment process for the Investigative Sergeant <br />position; to extend the term of commission and board members coming to the end of their term <br />60 days; and to move the discussion of the policy for appointing board and commission members <br />forward to a Council work session in December. <br /> <br />City Council / November 22, 2005 <br /> Page 21 of 23 <br /> <br /> <br />
