Consensus of the Commission was to direct staff to request City Council approval for the <br />playground equipment at Rivers Bend Park. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos noted that the irrigation work at Solstice Park will need to be <br />delayed due to the water and sewer work going on at Lord of Life Church. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Rolfe, seconded by Commissioner Asfahl, to direct staff to begin the <br />process for Capital Improvements identified for the year 2000, with the exception of retrofitting <br />bleachers which is no longer required. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chair Cook, Commissioners Rolfe, Asfahl, Johns, LaMere, and <br />Ostrum. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #5: US West Cell Tower Proposal <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos explained that US West is applying for a Conditional Use Permit <br />in order to build a 150 foot wireless facility in Deerwood Park. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rolfe inquired if the park is currently being used for any park activities. <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor replied no. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook inquired if there are any future plans for Deerwood Park that might be <br />impacted by the tower. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Boos replied that there are no future plans for Deerwood Park and that most of it <br />is wetland. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook inquired if the tower would bring any funds into the City for parks. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos replied that the Parks Trust fund will receive $12,000 per year. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Rolfe, seconded by Commissioner Asfahl, that the Park Commission <br />would consider the installation of a cell tower at Deerwood Park and invite US West to submit <br />plans for review contingent upon satisfactory review of the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chair Cook, Commissioners Rolfe, Asfahl, Johns, LaMere, and <br />Ostrum.
