She stated that until the City brings in more things for the youth <br />they cant' start requesting more fees. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Droegemueller, seconded by Commissioner Johns, to not recommend <br />continued funding for the City of Anoka Aquatic Center. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chair Cook, Commissioners Droegemueller, LaMere, and Johns. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos pointed out other things that occur for the children in the City of <br />Ramsey. <br /> <br />Commissioner Droegemueller stated that he is not in favor of the City charging user fees to the <br />athletic associations in the City of Ramsey, but would not minimize the amount of work that <br />Mark Boos and City staff does for the associations. He stated that he dose not think that the City <br />staff receives the appreciation they deserve or receive enough funding to keep up with the work <br />that is needed. Mr. Droegemueller advised RYAA members to contact the City Council if they <br />have any problems so that they can be made aware of the high maintenance needs of the fields. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook stated that the City is doing a lot of things to support the youth in the City, but <br />not all of it is organized. He stated that he is a big supporter of a community center and would <br />assist anyone in their efforts for moving forward with such a project. <br /> <br />Kelly Casey, RYAA Board Member, stated that she fully supports the idea of the community <br />center and felt that RYAA needs to commit to working with the City Council and the Park <br />Board. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos noted that he does not have any concerns with the Council's <br />operational budget. He stated that the majority of the problem is staffing related because the bulk <br />of their work force is high school or college students who are not available when the work is <br />needed the most. <br /> <br />Case#2: Recommend Parks Five-Year Capital Improvement Program for City <br /> Council Adoption <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos reviewed the Park and Recreation draft Capital Improvement <br />Program as of September 28, 2000. He stated that after the Commission approves the Capital <br />Improvement Program, the Finance Committee will receive the plan and make a recommendation <br />to the City Council. The final step in the process is for City Council to adopt a 2001 budget in <br />December 2000 for all of the City's various Capital Improvement Projects for the coming year. <br />Mark Boos reviewed each project within the five-year plan. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Droegemueller, seconded by Commissioner Johns, to recommend to <br />the City Council's Finance Committee the Parks Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan for 2001- <br />2005. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission/October 12, 2000 <br /> Page 5 of 7 <br /> <br /> <br />
