2) Note Rabbit Park Score Money Utilization

Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos stated that some of the funds that the City receives for recycling
will be used to improve the playground equipment at Rabbit Park. He noted that Rabbit Park
was selected for the improvements because there are three day cares in the area that frequently
use the park and it is a very active neighborhood in terms of park volunteerism.

3) Historical Site

Chairperson Cook stated that he had a discussion with A1 Raulke, who is involved.with the
Nowthen Thrashing Show. He stated that he is interested in starting something in Ramsey that
would be a joint effort with the City and park board. He explained that there is a lot of grant
money available to preserve the farming history and Mr. Raulke questioned if there would be
interest in the City of Ramsey to come up with a piece of land for them to begin with. Eventually
he would see the site becoming something similar to the Kelly Farm but from a different era. Mr.
Cook stated that he recommended that Mr. Raulke attend the Green Exp. and Lions Picnic to
determine the interest.

Commissioner LaMere inquired if they have had any contact'with the historical society.

Chairperson Cook replied yes, but eXplained that the main thing they need right now is land.

Commissioner LaMere stated that it seems to be more of a private interest.

Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos replied that he does not see a municipality permanently giving
away 40 acres.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Commissioner Johns, seconded by Commissioner LaMere, to adjourn the meeting.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chair Cook, Commissioners, Johns, LaMere, and Droegemueller.
Voting No: None.

The regular Park and Recreation Commission meeting adjourned at 8:13 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Nanci Libor
Recording Secretary
TimeSaver Off Site Secretarial, Inc.

Mark Boos
Parks/Utilities Supervisor

Park and Recreation Commission/October 12, 2000
Page 7 of 7
