Kierland Commons, Phoenix, AZ

Public restrooms are needed in certain
areas, but they are always dirty. Three
restaurants at Kierland Commons were not
required to have restrooms since the code
was met with close proximity to the public
restrooms.

Garbage and recycling areas need to be
close to tenants in order for them to be
used properly and need to be hidden to
make the area pleasing.

Formal security within the center makes the area feel safer during the day and at night when one
is alone. All security officials wore royal blue along with emergency phones marked with a blue
light.

Trellises have water misters on them to
cool the air to compensate for the high
temperatures. Trellises within the core
area of Ramsey Town Center could have
heaters, similar to those at bus station
stops to bring heat during the winter
months.

The streetscape within Kierland Commons
was pedestrian-friendly and invited you into
the street crosswalks. This was done with
angle and parallel parking with streets
necking down and landscaped sidewalks and
narrow streets
