CASE # <br /> <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION SUPPORTING ANOKA COUNTY REQUEST <br />TO ADD SEGMENTS OF CR 116 ANYJ CR 56 TO THE <br /> COUNTY STATE AID HIGHWAY SYSTEM <br /> By: Steven J. Jankowski, City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Attached to this case is a letter from Jane Rose, Traffic Engineering Manager with the <br />Anoka County Highway Department, requesting that the City support the request by <br />Anoka County to designate 2.39 miles ofCR 116 (Bunker Lake Blvd) from CR 83 <br />(Armstrong Blvd) to CR 57 (Sunfish Lake Blvd); and, the entire 3.00 mile from Highway <br />10 to CSAH 5, as roadways to be added to the County State Aid Highway System. <br />Similar to the Mtmicipal State Aid System this designation will allow these segments of <br />roadway to become eligible for funding from gas tax revenue that is distributed to local <br />governments from the state. <br /> <br />As stated in Ms. Rose's letter the City must concur with this designation to have these <br />segments added to the system. This designation will have the impact of reducing the total <br />length of mileage by 1.08 rniles which the City may place on its Municipal State Aid <br />System. This is because county highway mileage is considered a part of the City's basic <br />mileage upon which the City is allowed to designate a maximum of 20% as Municipal <br />State Aid roadway. Currently the City has an availability of 2.9 miles which could be <br />added to its MSA system and therefore can accommodate this action. <br /> <br />Because of the urgency of the request from Anoka County, this issue has not been <br />reviewed by the City's Public Works Committee, but has been brought to the City <br />Council directly for action. The addition of these two segments to the County's State Aid <br />System will allow for an additional funding source for improvements on the roadways <br />that are necessary for the development of the Ramsey Town Center. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends the adoption of the attached resolutions supporting the inclusion of <br />these roadways to the Anoka County State Aid Highway System. <br /> <br />Action: <br /> <br />Motion to adopt Resolutions 06-01-XXX and 06-01-XXX supporting the inclusion of <br />these roadways to the Anoka County State Aid Highway System. <br /> <br />Reviewed By: Public Works Director/Fire Chief <br /> Assistant Public Works Director/Principal Engineer <br /> <br />CC: 01/10/06 <br /> <br />-219- <br /> <br /> <br />
