Gary Dirks, 17530 Chameleon Street NW, Ramsey, questioned what the City will get out of the <br />tower being constructed on park property, is the tower for cell phones only, what is the cost to <br />the City, what is the developer going to pay for, and what impact the tower would have on <br />wildlife. He suggested constructing the pole at Central Park. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Frolik replied that she is not aware of any negotiations thus <br />far with respect to lease amounts. <br /> <br />Ms. Conlin noted that the tower would be a PCS antenna and reviewed the location that was <br />previously denied by the City. <br /> <br />Greg Muller, 17410 Chameleon Street NW, Ramsey, stated that he lives across the street from <br />the park and is opposed to the tower. He suggested that the tower be constructed in the middle of <br />a corn field so that it would not have an impact on residents. <br /> <br />Bruce Bachler, 17420 Chameleon Street NW, Ramsey, stated that he thinks the tower will have a <br />negative impact on his property values. <br /> <br />Todd Haney, 17440 Chameleon Street NW, Ramsey, stated that he lives adjacent to the park and <br />the area already has pipelines going through their location. He is opposed to the tower. <br /> <br />Carolyn Wahl, 17511 Chameleon Street NW, Ramsey, stated that she uses the park for <br />recreational use with her horses. She stated that she is opposed to the tower because the land was <br />dedicated as a park, not for housing a cell phone tower. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Johnson, seconded by Commissioner Nixt, to continue the public <br />hearing to August 1, 2000 and recommend imposing the 60-day extension. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Commissioner Johnson requested a sketch from the parks department <br />indicating how the park would still be viable with the tower. Commissioner Dempsey inquired <br />about park property further northwest that would not impact residential areas. Mr. Fotzeu replied <br />that the site was looked at, but it was determined to be unsuitable. Commissioner Reeve inquired <br />if there was a propagation map ran at 75 feet. Mr. Fotzeu replied that they could provide one. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Commissioners Johnson, Nixt, Dempsey, Kociscak, and Reeve. <br />Voting No: Chairperson Anderson. Absent: Commissioner Wivoda. <br /> <br />Case #6: Request for a Site Plan Review; Case of Boilermakers #647 <br /> <br />Community Development Director Frolik stated that the City of Ramsey has received a request <br />for site plan review from Boilermakers//647. The plan proposes to construct a training center <br />addition onto an existing building. The site is located at 9459 Highway 10 NW. Boilermakers <br />are proposing a 2,016 square foot addition onto an existing building in the B-1 Business District. <br />The proposed addition and existing building complies with the 35% building coverage <br /> <br />Planning Commission/July 10, 2000 <br /> Page 16 of 20 <br /> <br /> <br />
