Mrs. Smith requested a conditional use permit to maintain two main dwellings on one
parcel. The conditional use permit requested is in regards to Loving Care Senior Services desire
to utilize a second dwelling on a parcel for a nurses living quarters. Conditional use permits have
been issued in the past for more than one dwelling on a residential lot. The previous application
before the Planning commission was an interim use permit that established a time limit of five
years to utilize the detached structure as a second dwelling unit. After the established time limit,
Loving Care Senior Services would have been required to connect the two dwellings with an
above ground addition to give the appearance of one home. Due to the Planning Commission
recommendation at the September meeting, the application is now being processed as a
conditional use permit. The conditional use permit terms will not require the applicant to
connect the two dwellings and the ability to utilize the second dwelling will run with the life of
the property.

Planning Commission/October 3, 2000
