Karen Tarenski, 14533 Bowers Drive, Ramsey, stated that she is opposed to the variance request
for the same reasons that have been stated by her neighbors.

Lois Wasenski, 14741 Bowers Drive, Ramsey, stated that it is a situation where a person bought
a home on two lots and now is proposing to build a new home on the other lot. She felt that the
Larsons have been there a long time and by allowing the home to be built, it will negatively
impact the value of the Larson's home.

Mr. Larson noted that he received a call from his neighbor A1 Pearson indicating his opposition
to the variance request because he was unable to attend the meeting because he was on the way
to the hospital.

Motion by Board Member Kociscak, seconded by Board Member Dempsey, to close the public
hearing.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Board Members Kociscak, Dempsey, Griffiths,
Reeve, and Wivoda. Voting No: None.

The public hearing closed at 8:05 p.m.

Board Business

Chairperson Nixt called the regular meeting of the Board of Adjustment back to order at 8:05
p.m.

Chairperson Nixt inquired when if ever was the side yard setback changed so that it would have
reduced the sideyard setback to 10 feet.

Community Development Director Frolik replied that the side yard setback has been 10 feet
since 1981 and was 99 percent confident that it was 10 feet prior to that.

Board Member Reeve inquired if there was a copy of the approval from the DNR.

Community Development Director Frolik explained that if the Board of Adjustment approves the
variance, then it would be forwarded onto the DNR for certification. The applicant was given
verbal indication from DNR that the request would receive a favorable review.

Board Member Wivoda inquired if it is legal to build on the property line if two lots are owned
by the same property owner.

Community Development Director Frolik replied yes.

Board Member Dempsey inquired as to how many similar variances have been granted.

Board of Adjustment/September 5, 2000
