5) Consider Granting a Leave of Absence to a City Employee <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Reed stated Associate Planner Amy Geisler has asked for an <br />additional seven weeks of leave of absence without pay. It is the recommendation of staff and <br />the Personnel Committee to grant the seven weeks of leave without pay to Amy Geisler. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Pearson, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee and adopt Resolution //06-01-022 to grant the <br />seven weeks of leave without pay to Amy Geisler. <br /> <br />6) Consider Approving 2006-2007 Labor Agreement with LELS-Sergeants <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Reed explained on Tuesday, January 3, 2006, staff and LELS- <br />Sergeants reached tentative agreement on a two-year labor agreement. She reviewed the <br />following terms and conditions tentatively agreed to: <br /> <br />Wages: <br /> <br />2006 - 3% plus applicable step increases <br />2007 - 3% plus applicable step increases <br /> <br />Insurance: <br /> <br />2006: Single: $426.50 <br />2006: Family: $665.00 <br />2007: Reopener <br /> <br />Holidays: Additional four hour floater <br /> <br />Sick Leave/ 25 yrs 40% <br />Severance <br /> <br />Duration: 2 years <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook stated it was the recommendation of the Personnel Committee that the <br />City Council approve the changes to the City's labor agreement with LELS. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee in Case No. 6 and to adopt Resolution #06-01-023 <br />to approve the above listed changes to the City's labor agreement with LELS. The contract, <br />including the proposed language, will be effective January 2006-December 2007. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Mayor Gamec asked if the additional four hour floater will also affect other <br />agreements. Human Resources Manager Reed responded in the affirmative. She explained this <br />offer has been made to each of the three unions and it will be brought forward to the non-union <br />employees on January 24th. Councilmember Jeffrey asked if these contract changes fall within <br />the range of budgeted expectations.
