Wetland Inventory Update
By: Chris Anderson, Zoning & Recycling Coordinator
Background:
CASE # 1
The wetland buffer ordinance was officially adopted at the October 11, 2005 City Council
meeting. It was published in the Anoka Union October 14, 2005 and took effect November 14,
2005. City Council did request that this ordinance be reviewed after it had been in use for about
six (6) months.
Peterson Environmental Consulting (PEC) is approximately seventy-five percent (75%) complete
with the GIS and data reduction components of the inventory. Upon completion, that information
will be entered into a MnRAM program to provide a preliminary classification of each wetland.
Those results will determine which wetlands will require ground proofing (i.e. identifying the
Preserve and Manage 1 wetlands). PEC anticipates completing all preliminary office work by the
end of December. Field verification would occur as soon as weather permits this spring. The
City will have access to this data and thus, if a development application is submitted prior to the
completion of the municipal wetland management classification map, it will still be possible to
apply the buffer regulations.
Recommendation:
NA
EPB Action
This is for informational purposes only. No action is required.
EPB: 12/5/05
CASE # 2
MetroEnvironment Partnership Grant Status
By: Chris Anderson, Zoning & Recycling Coordinator
Background:
On October 13, 2005, the City was notified that its application for grant monies for the wetland
inventory and assessment was not approved.
